hi all

am having issues with vaio vcsystem tray & vaio shell which have recently resulted in the following

message when I shut down = the exception unknown software exception (0xe0434352) error occurred

in application location at 0xfd5fb3dd.

this combination has resulted in not being able to access any element of vaio care, which is a useful

sony tool for housekeeping my laptop. the checks I have done seem to indicate that this may well be an ms

issue as well as a sony.

does anybody know how I can retrieve vaio care or reinstall it.

in the meantime I am getting a small box appear informing me that the machine ' vs sytem tray is trying to open'

but never quite does???????

this is taking place on a vaio vpcf23n1e, ms windows 7 home premium with s/p 1

would appreciate a way to sort this

regards

lloydie

Hi Lloydie and welcome back.

How long since did this occur?

If not too long ago a quick simple way to correct it would be a system restore back to a time previous to when it happened.

Then be careful about installing any updates after that as it does look like a Windows update might have done the damage.

If not too long ago, there won't be that many updates so you can then set the updates to manual and install them one at a time to check all is still OK after each one.
