hi i have a dvd internal writer (Toshiba / samsung) model SN S082

and a toshiba satellite 2450-101

 

i fitted the unit but it does not see it and no ammount of searching will find it

i have mailed toshiba but all they have said is install bios up date

i have the latest bios but it stiil will not see it

 

any help welcome

Are you saying that you installed a new optical drive on your laptop but it's not being detected?

Is this a new unit you've installed or the one that came with system?

 

Does the system recognize it in the BIOS?

 

Will a bootable CD boot from it ?

 

IF BIOS can not see it or known good bootable CD can not boot from it then I would think the unit has failed or if new is faulty, or you maybe have a bad cable for data or power going to it.
