Doriansluck Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Hi Guys Hoping I can get some advice/help. Before I start, I'll just give a little background about myself. I'm no computer expert but I know my way around them to get by, It's been a hobby of mine for about 20 years. Anyways, I'm a little rusty and need some advice how to fix this current issue. Ok, so I've been given a sony vaio to fix, it's not booting into windows. At first boot it gives me the error 0xc00000e9 which after a bit of research seems to be related to a HDD issue (which I thought it would be). So i tried a few HDD diagnostic tools and basically the tests were all failing and were all reporting too many issues. So I've now loaded up a linux based system (booted from USB) called Parted Magic which is giving me access to the data on the HDD. So my questions are, Can anyone recommend some decent software to test the HDD to make 100% the drive is failing? And, if the drive is beyond repair, whats the easierst way to get the recovery data across to a new HDD? Thanks Quote
