Hi I have a Packard Bell computer with Windows 8.

The computer used to start very fast. When I turned it on it used to go pass the Packard Bell logo really quickly. Now it takes some seconds before the logo appears and the logo hangs around for a bit. What can I do?

Hi I forgot to mention that I have no problem with the Microsoft Software itself. It's just the Packard Bell logo which stays longer and takes longer to come up.

I have done a few things. I will go through them.

1. I have cleaned all the temp files on my C drive.

2. I have run a full check using Panda antivirus.

3. I have defragged my computer

4. I have removed from my computer a program which I no longer need. Not sure about removing anymore as I don't understand what most of them do.

What more can I do?

I sometimes solve such issues by restoring my PC back to a restore point set before the problem arose. As a precaution, I occasionally manually create a restore point while all is working well. Edited by Woodworker

How long should the computer take to go pass the Packard Bell welcome message? Does anyone know?

Also are there any other tips?

Thanks for all your help.

If you are still having a problem with it taking some time before the Windows operating system starts, it is happening in the BIOS, this is the system that checks everything before starting and then handing control over to Windows.

The slow response could be one of a few things though, the hard drive not getting up to speed quickly enough, a problem with the RAM memory, or some problem with the power supply.

Hi. When the Welcome screen starts to hang hit "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" and see if it goes into boot up almost immediately or much quicker.

Also disconnect your printer or any external devices and see if that speeds boot up.

Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
