Very puzzled Windows 10 pewparation updates and all trace removed but NOT BY ME!

Well the plot thickens!

After days being unable to download any updates for my Win 8.1 as Windows 10 would over ride and start downloading. All mention of WIN10 has gone from the update interface and I just downloaded 21 important 8.1 updates without any sign of attempted WIN 10 download. Even more strange the Win 10 symbol has gone from my system tray (think its called that, its at bottom of screen when on desktop)

Also no more nag signs telling me my free Win 10 is ready to install.

You would think I have somehow removed it all from my PC but I haven't done any of the sort.

Has anyone else had this experience? it's really quite eerie as if Microsoft have realised I don't want Windows 10 and removed all mention from my desk top PC.

Hi Ray. The only thing I can think of is you ran "Disk Cleanup" and that uninstalled the hidden Windows10 download hidden in your Temp Files.

Or you have a third party optimizing program that deletes temp files.

No I haven't run disc clean up or any other such programme and no third party optimizing program that deletes temp files.

It's a mystery!!

It may just be possible that the new group policy has managed to install, have a look here at post #2

As a 'last word' so to speak by me I can confirm that I can now get normal important windows updates without Windows 10 starting to down load.

So you could say I'm now happier but still mystified by what has gone on?

So should we assume that this thread should now be marked as closed rather than 'solved'

Hi Ray, just see how it goes, and I do think that the particular group policy update is the reason behind it all. If nothing further in another few days we will mark it as solved. We never close a thread except where some abuse or other controversial issue has come up.
