Signart Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Hi. Long time no see. Got this message ~ "Windows has detected an IP address conflict ~ Another computer on this network has the same IP address as this computer. windows system event log . . etc" (Me dummy. Event log = chinese.) ~ I am in a public area, using the library wifi. Security breach? Can anyone see what I am doing? Not really bothered, Doing nothing illegal. Just curious. I do have another PC. Same make & model. Dell. Same Win7. But not being used at the moment. And not here. And it surely has a different IP.? Just ignore it? Thank you in advance. Signart Quote
KenB Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Hi Signart, good to see you again. It could be that you have your system set to a fixed IP address and not to obtain one automatically. Normally the network that you are accessing would allocate you an IPAddress - it is unlikely that it would allocate 2 the same. To check: Take a look here - click here http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/19249/how-to-assign-a-static-ip-address-in-xp-vista-or-windows-7/ Scroll down for Win7 ( if this is your system ) Check that you have "Obtain IP Address Automatically" ticked.
