Hi. Long time no see. Got this message ~

"Windows has detected an IP address conflict ~ Another computer on this network has the same IP address as this computer. windows system event log . . etc"

(Me dummy. Event log = chinese.) ~ I am in a public area, using the library wifi. Security breach? Can anyone see what I am doing? Not really bothered, Doing nothing illegal. Just curious.

I do have another PC. Same make & model. Dell. Same Win7. But not being used at the moment. And not here. And it surely has a different IP.? Just ignore it? Thank you in advance. Signart

Hi Signart,

good to see you again.

It could be that you have your system set to a fixed IP address and not to obtain one automatically.

Normally the network that you are accessing would allocate you an IPAddress - it is unlikely that it would allocate 2 the same.

To check:

Take a look here - click here

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/19249/how-to-assign-a-static-ip-address-in-xp-vista-or-windows-7/

Scroll down for Win7 ( if this is your system )

Check that you have "Obtain IP Address Automatically" ticked.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
