llanfallteg16 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Hi All, Just been removing GOOBZO junk from Firefox folder as GOOBZO was returning every other day! While I had to look at everything I had a peep at 'CERTIFICATES'. Ye Gods what a mixture of names and origins. One was even Turkish. Do I just live with this assortment that have accumulated over the years or can some be deleted. Can the list be printed out to help with removal? Thanks John Quote
Starbuck Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Hi John and welcome to FPCH. Not many here from your neck of the woods. I lived in Neath for about 12 years.... but have worked in Neyland and Saundersfoot. On the question of certificates...... Microsoft does not recommend removing digital certificates. You may be unable to view any Web sites that require client authentication based on the digital certificate. As far as GOOBZO goes.... Have you uninstalled 'Search Module Plus'... this is the first thing that needs to be removed. You then need to run an adware removal tool and reset your browsers to clear it completely. Have you installed any other free software lately (video recording/streaming, download-managers or PDF creators) 'Search Module Plus' is also bundled within the custom installer on many reputable download sites, so if you have downloaded a software from these websites, chances are that Search Module Plus was installed during the software setup process. If you need any help in removing this, just let me know and we'll sort it out for you. Quote Member of:UNITE
llanfallteg16 Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 Hi Starbuck, Thanks for your help. I've just removed Firefox and installed a new edition. Have checked Malwarebytes and GOOBZO has not appeared again so far. I will have a look for 'Search Module Plus' as advised. Can't think of anything new that has been added as I'm in the process of 'slimming down' and removing unused software. I was a member of FPCH for several years and tried to log on with same details but did no pass the first hurdle. Not into text or games or audio! Regards jOHN Quote
llanfallteg16 Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 Hi Starbuck, Can't seem to send a reply to private message as requested. No permission given to use this service. Thanks for the kind offer, I think I will leave well alone as everything works well at the moment. Regards John Quote
llanfallteg16 Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 Hi Starbuck, Just ran Malwarebytes again this morning, no problems shown with GOOBZO. I think that removing the two folders in the Firefox settings did the trick. Difficult to find though as files were 'hidden' in Documents and settings-application data- Mozilla-profiles folder. All seems to be sorted now. I will have a look though at the certificates and their origin, just in case there is something there as well. J (Rainy day here in Wales) Quote
Starbuck Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Hi John, Can't seem to send a reply to private message as requested. No permission given to use this service. I'm not 100% sure, but I seem to remember that you have to reach something like 5 posts before the PM system works for you. Difficult to find though as files were 'hidden' in Documents and settings-application data- Mozilla-profiles folder. GOOBZO does hide it self, so that detection by AV software is difficult. All seems to be sorted now. That's good to hear. Rainy day here in Wales Same here in the Midlands as well today. :( Safe surfing. http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/033/b/3/Computer_addict__by_Sinister_Starfeesh.gif Quote Member of:UNITE

I can confirm that this is correct :) Llanfallteg16 .....I will see if I can artificially increase your post count ----- then you should be able to PM Starbuck. EDIT - success .....you are now showing 10 posts. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Plastic Nev Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Just to explain policy, the need to create more than five genuine posts before the PM system can be used was introduced to try and prevent spammers registering, and then sending spam via PM to all the members. In genuine cases such as this, that can be over ridden. Hope everyone understands. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here.
