bob12a Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Seasons greetings I know the general consensus is NOT TO use duplicate finders but I do have an external hd which I know contains thousands of duplicate photos. I would be happy to try a recommended dupe finder if one could be found. Bob PS I have managed to install win10 I was not going to bother after all the poxy problems with( sp1:mad:) Quote Bob(bob12a)My 3D pictures need red cyan glasses to viewmedion MD8855,Win 7 IE8, Firefox/3, Avast,MS security essentials, NERO 9,malware bytes.Mailwasher pro ,6.54,Roboform,spybot S&D 1.6, Canon ixus 860 X 2,PS CS5
DSTM Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 I won't use duplicate finders. Had a bad experience once with a duplicate program. Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
ExTS Admin Starbuck Posted December 28, 2015 ExTS Admin Posted December 28, 2015 Hi Bob, I do have an external hd which I know contains thousands of duplicate photos. I would be happy to try a recommended dupe finder if one could be found. I'm not saying this will definitely work for you.... but no harm in trying. I'm assuming that if there are duplicate photos, then there's a good chance that they were created at the same time. Also as you now have Win10 installed ( nice work btw ) I just tried this on my external HD..... When you open a folder, there is an option to 'search'. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/starbuck50/magsmus_zpsxotoq1ib.png I typed in a date and up came all the same date results: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/starbuck50/magsmus2_zpssjg2yvpf.png So you could use a date/name etc as a search option. Obviously it's not as quick as using a third party software... but it is safe. Quote Member of:UNITE
bob12a Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 Thanks friend will give it a go later. You say I'm assuming that if there are duplicate photos, then there's a good chance that they were created at the same time. Silly me of course 95% of my pics are taken at the same MOMENT OF TIME. I shoot with 2 cameras synced. Happy and Healthy New year to you and yours. RustyKnight Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 A few years ago, when I had Windows XP, I had a program that would compare the actual photos and show possible duplicates so you could delete them. I can't remember what it was called but it was very good and the only reason I got rid of it was because it wouldn't run on Windows 7.
