Hi everyone,

I recently had to clear some malware off my Windows 10 laptop after it got infected. Malwarebytes found and deleted it all and subsequent scans have come back clean. However since then when I try to open certain apps/programs (Edge and Photos so far) I get a message saying "*program* can't be opened using the Built-in administrator Account. Sign in with a different account and try again"

I have only ever had one account on this laptop so I'm not sure how to change this back so I can access all programs. So far all the things I use regularly are working fine so it's more an annoyance than anything. I've read some fixes online but they involve opening Local Security Policy which isn't available on my edition of Windows 10.

Does anyone know what the issue is and how I can sort it? Many thanks.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes I did try that but it still wouldn't open.

I'm not even sure why my account has become a Built-in Administrator one? Beforehand I signed in with the same password etc and had access to everything.

I am wondering if you opened a local account would that help.

Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
