maynardvdm Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Hi This could be heat problem or a PSU related issue. Does it turn off when you dont play the game or does it only happen when you play the game? Quote We are all members helping other members. Wickitwak Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Hi my PC only turns off on it's own when I am playing 1 of 2 games, I haven't tried again, a bit scared. Sometimes it takes me ages to get the PC back on. Quote
Seth Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Taking a while to getting it come back on, also indicates an overheating problem as the component needs time to cool before it will work again. The overheating will either be the video card or the cpu (processor). Open the case, take out the video card and clean the heatsink. If the video card has a fan, then run the computer and make sure that fan is spinning You should also use a vaccuum cleaner with the help of a toothbrush to clean the top of the heatsink on the cpu. Compressed air can also be used for that. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here If Free PC Help has helped you then please consider a donation. Wickitwak Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Thank you so much for your advice, sorry to be so not technically minded, but where do I open the case to take out the video card and where is the heat sink, thanking you. Quote
