INTEL QUAD CORE 4X 3.33GHZ - a reasonably decent but average processor.

 

12GB DDR3 1333MHZ RAM - with this amount of RAM your machine should be quite quick to load installed software etc

and it will be capable of manipulating graphics intense programs if this is what you want to do.

 

NVIDIA GEFORCEGTX 480 - this is your video card. It is an average low spec card but good enough if you are not playing high end games.

 

 

750GB 7200RPM HIGH SPEED SATA HDD - this is a fast hard drive. The slower ones rotate at 5400 r/m

 

SEASONIC SWITCHING POWER SUPPLY - This is a good make of PSU

 

SUPERMICRO QUALITY MAINBOARD - Supermicro is the manufacturer of the main-circuit-board. The mainboard houses all of the major components.

 

With 12-GB-RAM installed you will probably have a 64 bit Operating System.

I see your profile shows Win-7.

A 64 bit system allows more RAM to be installed. ( 32 bit systems only use 4GB RAM )

 

You have 12-GB-RAM. This is much more than an average system usually has. Many will have just 4GB ....some less.

RAM is temporary memory. The system uses this ( not you ) and stores data that it needs to reference. Simply - 12GB means that the system can work faster - especially if you have a lot of files open - especially graphics intense software.

 

Your Hard-drive rotates at 7200 r/m.

This will allow it to locate data on the disk much faster than the slower drives that many systems have.

 

So - to conclude:

This is a system with a good general specification.

It should be quite quick.

If you are using it for general computing ( using installed programs / email / word processing etc ) you should find it quite quick and more than up to what you want to do.

Can you try to give us a little more detail please?

 

Is it specific websites or just generally ....any website?

 

Is your email a web-based one like gmail ?

 

Are the adverts "sensitive" ie. rude or just everyday advertisements ?

 

Does it look like this? or are they full page? This is what I get on this site - it doesn't bother me.

I'm assuming that these ads are just the normal ads that appear on the webpages and Facebook etc.

Installing an adblocker is the best way to deal with these.

I have one installed on all of my browsers.

No adblocker will completely remove all ads.... but they will get rid of about 90% - 95% of them.

 

You don't say what your main browser is, so here's a list: (just click on the blue hyperlinks to access the install pages)

 

Firefox:

 

uBlock Origin

Click on Add to Firefox.

 

Once installed, I recommend that you update the blocking definitions.

 

Tools >> Add-ons >> Extensions >> Options in uBlock Origin.

Scroll down and click on Show Dashboard.

Now click on 3rd Party Filters >> Update Now.

 

Google Chrome:

 

uBlock Origin

Click on Add to Chrome

 

Once installed, I recommend that you update the blocking definitions.

 

Right click on the uBlock Origin icon (top right of the browser) and select Options.

Now click on 3rd Party Filters >> Update Now.

 

Internet Explorer:

 

Since uBlock Origin is not available for IE, I'll recommend you install Adblock Plus for Internet Explorer instead.

Click on Install for Internet Explorer.

Click on Run notification at the bottom of the browser.

If you now get a notification saying IE is still running, would you like to shut down.... click Yes.

Follow the install pages by click next and finally finish.

Re-open Internet Explorer.

At the bottom you'll see:

The Adblock Plus for IE browser helper object is ready for use..... click Enable.

 

 

If the ads are just normal ads, installing one of these adblockers will help enormously.

If you still get the ads after installing, let me know and we'll check for any rogue browser extensions.

That's what we are here for.

Any questions... just ask.

 

I always backup to USB sticks or an External Hard Drive as well as using an online storage such as Dropbox

If the files on your system are important... you need at least 2 copies of the backups.

An 8GB or a 16GB usb stick will hold a lot of data.

If you needed something bigger then go for a 32GB stick or an External Hard Drive.

These usually start at about 500GB and will go up to about 4TB.
