Hello folks this is my first post.

I have just installed a new NVidia gtx 1070 graphics card and with it a new cougar 750watt PSU.

I needed the new PSU because my old one did not have the required 8 pin plugs.

It boots fine and runs as expected but when I shut down my monitor etc closes as per normal but my front case fan and CPU fan keep running and the LED's on my motherboard and graphics card stay lit....I have reset my bios to defaults.

Next I checked the power management in win 10 64 bit......but I think its a PSU related problem because when I switch the PSU off with its own switch then back on again the LEDs and fans start up straight away before my pc posts.......please help.........................cheers dave h

Hi Dave

Do the fans turn off eventually ?

If so - it could be that the PSU has a feature to keep power to the m-board

[ I tried to check with the specs for your PSU but could not find anything ]

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

Thanks for the reply KenB. The fans do not shut off.....I left them for maybe 30 mins....also its strange that the CPU fans and chassis fans run as soon as the PSU is switched on but its own fan doesn't start until I press the PC's power button????

Hi Dave,

I needed the new PSU because my old one did not have the required 8 pin plugs.

You can get an adapter ......this one uses 2 molex connectors from the PSU - some use just one.

You could get one of these and return the PSU for a refund.

[ assuming your old PSU has the wattage to run the system with your new Video Card ]

Alternatively ......

CPU fans and chassis fans run as soon as the PSU is switched on but its own fan doesn't start until I press the PC's power button????

Fit your old PSU again - along with your old Video Card

If things are OK then it looks like a problem with the PSU as you originally suggested.

I would contact the seller and request a refund.
