Oh gosh Ive been trying to explain this scam email from HMRC to a freind for the past few hours. He isnt getting it then when I think he is he lost the train of thought.

I think he has got it now.

Anyway we dont need help,Ive hopefully set him on the right path.

So he had this email that states its from HMRC,just to point out HMRC would NEVER send you an email asking you to click a link and fill in your bank details.

The email is NOT from HMRC.

Email recived:

Please find a copy of your invoice that was previously sent to you.

Please make payment immediately via the below link in order to avoid any further late payment penalties.

http://www.taxreturned.co.uk/payment?payref=TRO406292287&paytotal=1803.00&paydj=2016

As per our Terms & Conditions (which have been electronically signed by you when submitting your claim on our website), your invoice in now overdue.

We would like to remind you that you are contractually bound to our legal agreement, and we reserve the right to charge interest on overdue fees – which accrues at a daily rate. Failure to pay our invoice may result in legal action being taken – which may negatively impact on any future credit ratings.

We look forward to hearing from you shortly.

Kind regards,

Yes it may appear to you its from HMRC ut its not,if you look at the attached link it is actually a philshering company and the link first direct you to this site:

I clicked the link on my friends email and it took me to the above site and then redirected me to a PayPal account and told me I also owed £590-90 the same as it told my friend.

I do NOT owe the tax man any money I can assure you,I get a tax slip every year and I owe NOTHING.

But my friend had the same you owe us £590-90,it maybe genuine PayPal but the account is a group of scammers stealing your money.

Simply a phishering site.

I also advised my friend his computer maybe infected last week and he needed to seek help,he has not popped over here for help.

Please people,do not click these type links.

The Tax office/HMRC willNEVER email you and ask for your details. Its a SCAM..

Your bank will NEVER email you and ask for you to click this link or download this attachment and fill in all your bank details. Its a SCAM..

Its the same with your Amazon Account has been compramised,no it has not,do not click the link,Its a SCAM..

iTunes your account will be shut down click this link or we will shut your account down,do NOT c lick the link, its NOT from iTunes,Its a SCAM..

Your PayPal has had some suspisous behaviour,no it has not its a SCAM..

If you get one of these emails from HMRC please do NOT click any links but forward them to phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk HMRC do NOT send you text messages with links attached.

I think my friend has eventually got the idea,he has forwarded the email, blocked the sender and will be ringing HMRC tomorrow to see if they can help sort out this mess.

Now if I could of looked at the copy of the HRMC letter he had through the post I could of checked if that was genuine to..

If anyone wants to correct my spelling edit if needs be,etc please feel free to do so.Thanks.

Who did Starbuck..?

My friend has had to pay this company £590-90..

What he thought was clicking HMRC website sign in was actually this company,oh gosh how to explain it,it looked like HMRC sign in but it was different,it was actually this company,s little rouge page so you sign up or sign in via there webpage and get stung.

When I gave my friend the correct sign in it was different. He got back to me after he rang HMRC and they said he had to pay this company or they would send the bailiffs, but they explained to him what I was trying to explain.People are getting stung and their Facebook page, yeah right, not one negative comment.

People should NEVER click a link like this via an email,I always advise to go directly to the page they require via a webpage.

But ho wdid this company know how much he was owed via HMRC,simple he clicked the link in the email and they gathered all his information.

The man got stung and all this company did was send an email with a dodgy link to a philshering webpage.£590-90 of stung...

I am disgusted that thse people get away with it.I did wonder how they got his details,if his computer is infected maybe some roughe programm is gathering his personal date. But I tried to help but again if people ask for help but then dont do what you ask of them, walk away..

Well after trying to get my friend to actually listen to me that these people were legally scamming people we have a final result.

Poor guy I thought he was going to have another heart attack and he was in bits over this.I had enough of these morons conning people.I had seen he had wrote on these scammers FaceBook page at that point I had to tell him to STOP posting on their page.

Finds out this company was charging the guy to reply to his complaints.Emailed them a complaint they charged him to reply and deal with his complaint.Yup even via phone but worst of all when they replied to his comments on Facebook they charged him money.

Bless him these people are complete asses, this old guy is in his 60,s already had a heart attack and in peices.

Well I posted STOP writing on their wall they are charging you to reply to your comments. But that was not good enough I posted the same comment from myself on several of there posts, how they are using a legal loophole to scam people out of money, how they used a fake HMRC form and charged peopleto deal with thier complaints, fleecing them.

I just felt so sorry for my friend.I had to do something.

Well they quoted £590-90 costs for them to claim his tax back for him, that bill went up to over £1,300-00 for dealing with his complaint. But today they have decided to send him a cheque and on top of that cheque they refunded the £590-90 they demanded he pay for them for claiming his tax back for him that he could of contacted HMRC and claimed it back for FREE.They have only charged him £25-00 to do the job for him.

I hate innocent people getting conned,I think I shamed themand exposed them. But my friend has sent all the details to WatchDog,ITV,BBC and more. Maybe they will do a story on these scammers.I am disgusted at the way they treat people.
