System HP ENVY23 64 bit all in one.

Running Win 8.1

Hi all

Today trouble started when I went to start a routine Malwarebytes (free) scan and the screen went white well sort of! I could just see my desk top icons so perhaps glazed would be better description than white.

Not being able to get things back to normal I tried a routine turn off and re boot but would not turn off from the start menu so reluctantly went to turn off at the switch which finally worked after repeated pushing/holding to switch down.

When I re booted later everything seemed good but when tried to connect to email or other desktop icons they were highlighted with the mouse but would not connect. I checked I still had internet connection which was so as wife was using ipad ia my my router.

Then tried to turn off at start menu was a no go then via switch still no go this time and eventually I had to pull plug out of wall to get PC to turn off.

On re booting all is now working but for how long I dont know! By the way I completed a full AMB scan which came up with over 100 PUPS which I deleted Also my Windows Defender AV shows no threats although not done a scan yet.

Can someone help/suggest what has happened and any possible fix

Thanks

Ray.

Hi Ray

On re booting all is now working

Very often the dreaded computer genie will correct itself and - hopefully - you will hear no more from it.

I can't suggest what caused the crash - but if all seems ok best leave it alone :)

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
