RustyKnight Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Its a scam, just hang up, or tell them you don't have a computer and hang up. Quote [Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Ubuntu MATE, Linux Mint, Chromebook] [several Raspberry Pi running various versions of Raspbian]

KenB Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Hi George, Yes - it is a scam ! I have had phone calls claiming to be my ISP and saying there are router problems - NO there are not !! I have had emails from "my bank" telling me there has been a security breach. - I don't think so !! You are best advised to do exactly what you did - phone the relevant company and ask them if they have been trying to contact you. Under no circumstances allow anybody access to your computer. We have been asked on numerous occasions to do it from here - we don't as a matter of policy. Don't click on links from emails, Contact the company direct. :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! RustyKnight Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 We had one a few weeks ago from someone saying they were from BT. According to him my computer was infected and that was causing a problem for all other BT internet users in my area. I told him I don't have a computer, he said I must have because I wouldn't need the internet if I didn't have a computer. I just said "haven't you heard of smart TVs" - he hung up Quote [Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Ubuntu MATE, Linux Mint, Chromebook] [several Raspberry Pi running various versions of Raspbian]
