joddle Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Have had my HP Envy 4500 printer for just over a year and all has been OK up until now when today the colour won't print correctly - its like there is simply no definition to the pictures and that colours are all wrong - they look like they are also a bit smudged. The test prints from the HP software look OK but when I print a photo or a simple picture the quality is dire - not at all usable. Thinking it was an ink problem I have been and bought a new genuine HP cartridge but the problem still persists. Have tried the auto cleaning routine but to no avail - its as bad as ever. Have reset to factory and tried again - still no better. Have tried printing from different PCs and different software packages but the result is always the same Before I chuck it in the bin is there anything else I could be looking look at? Quote

joddle Posted January 19, 2017 Author Posted January 19, 2017 Hi, Have you tried removing the driver software and re-installing them ? I have now but it made no difference - however on installing that I got a message about the ink levels for the black cartridge which had previously shown as OK - looks like that may be at least part of the problem - on taking it out I noticed there was no black ink at the jets - even when applying a damp tissue so a new one will be fitted tomorrow to see. KenB Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 Let us know how you get on. I had a Canon printer one time and the nozzles were always drying up. I ended up dumping the printer and was given a really old Epson - which is still working fine :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
