ExTS Admin Starbuck Posted September 1, 2017 ExTS Admin Posted September 1, 2017 (edited) Hi Jim, please update the graphics driver. Using speccy I find it refers to an Acer V22GHQL Using dxdiag it says an AMD 760G Acer V22GHQL .... this is your Monitor. AMD 760G.... this is the chipset on your motherboard. When running Speccy on my laptop: https://i.imgur.com/mT5CF9P.png the monitor is the top section on the graphics section, the integrated graphics is the bottom section. Speccy gave the following:- Graphics Monitor Name Acer V226HQL on AMD 760G (Microsoft Corporation WDDM 1.1) Current Resolution 1920x1080 pixels Work Resolution 1920x1032 pixels State Enabled, Primary, Output devices support Monitor Width 1920 Monitor Height 1080 Monitor BPP 32 bits per pixel Monitor Frequency 59 Hz Device \\.\DISPLAY1\Monitor0 ATI video Manufacturer ATI Model video GPU RS780 Device ID 1002-9616 Subvendor Gigabyte (1458) Current Performance Level Level 0 Die Size 64 mm² Release Date 2009 DirectX Support 10.0 DirectX Shader Model 4.0 OpenGL Support 2.0 Driver version 8.56.1.16 ROPs 4 Shaders 40 unified Memory Type System Count of performance levels : 1 Level 1 Looking at that do I want a version later than Driver version 8.56.1.16 ? This is all very confusing for peeps like me. Jim. PS There isn't an option to update the graphics driver in device manager Edited September 1, 2017 by mij Quote
KenB Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 Hi Jim, Go back to Device Manager. Click the > next to Display Adapters - right click your Video Adapter > select "Update Driver" Make sure you have an internet connection. Let Windows look for a driver automatically This doesn't always produce a positive result - but it is worth a try as a first step. Let Windows look for a driver automatically This doesn't always produce a positive result - but it is worth a try as a first step. Ok, I did that but it would not display the page it should be. It displayed a page similar to the one displayed when I updated the driver I found on the net. I corrected it then as I did today, by restoring to a previous date. A BTW was that it displayed Stellarium ok but nothing else. There must be something wrong with the driver? Jim O Quote
mij Posted September 2, 2017 Author Posted September 2, 2017 I am wondering if I may have contacted something. A site I frequent (wetcanvas) has been hacked by an adult ****ographer. But it only is affective with an updated driver. Jim. Quote
KenB Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 This link takes you to the AMD site. - click here If you get re-directed let us know. There is a "Automatically Detect and Install Your Driver" button. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! mij Posted September 2, 2017 Author Posted September 2, 2017 Thank you for responding so quickly. I have tried what you said and got a different response from that previously. I got:- Error 182. AMD installer cannot properly identify the AMD graphics hardware. I havie tried following their advice on this matter but soon got lost. The steps they expect me to take are too large for this non-techie guy. Jim Quote
mij Posted September 2, 2017 Author Posted September 2, 2017 Victor Meldrew mode: " I don't believe it "!!! I thought I'd try to get an image of both pages that the attempted update displayed. When I tried it, it worked on both pages, Stellarium AND my daily viewings. When I tried the site you suggested I got the error 182 but before that it downloaded and installed what I thought were the correct drivers. Hence I was disapointed to see the 182 error. But it must have installed something as it now works. Yippee! I am leaving it well alone. Thanks very much. Jim. Quote
