Any ideas what the fault could be:

HP 15-ac151sa

When turned on you can hear the fan spin etc but it does not appear to boot, screen stays blank and the caps lock key continually flashes.

Hi,

Try taking the battery out.

Use the mains connection and try to boot up on this alone.

If this doesn't work try taking the RAM out and - if there are two modules - replace just one.

Try booting up.

No go?

Swap the modules over.

Hi Ken

Have tried all of the above I’m afraid.

Unit only has one stick of RAM is it possible that this is faulty and causing the issue?

It could be - yes.

Do you have a similar module in another machine to try ?

You could give a local tech a call and ask if he has a spare that you can try to confirm your suspicion.
