Richard_T Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 I use the wake on lan function with my home pc for remote access, however widnows 10 has just updated to the creators update and WOL now no longer works. ive turned fast start up off in the power options but no luck Quote
Starbuck Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Hi Richard, Looking into this, I see a lot of people are having the same problem. Everyone seems to have little workarounds that work for some.... but no definitive answer. Most seem to agree that removing the Fall Creators Update solved the problem. It's something to consider... Richard_T Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 Thanks, after a bot of searching online, it would appear that there is no fix. what is it with updates that make things worse?? Quote
Richard_T Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 And its all back working again - now the pesky updates has been rolled back Does anyone at Microsoft pay any attention to the feedback left ( ie why do you want to roll back/un install)? and the next thing to look for is how to stop the thing form updating Quote
Starbuck Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 the next thing to look for is how to stop the thing form updating It's not quite as simple as that with Win10. There is no way to turn off the updates if you are running Win10 Home:mad: If you have Win10 Pro you can defer the updates for 7 days.... but that's as good as it gets I'm afraid. Richard_T Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 looks like i will have to sit back and wait - or hopefuly microsft will fix it all. Now i have another issue, everything appears to boot as normal, but every now and again it gets stuck on the Windows splash screen - the picture before the password/user log in Quote
Richard_T Posted December 22, 2017 Author Posted December 22, 2017 update: the thing updated again, but this time all appears OK ( shouldnt have said that as tempting fate) Quote
Starbuck Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 update: the thing updated again, but this time all appears OKLet's hope that everything will be ok now. I've had 2 friends, plus my son that suffered from the Fall Creators Update. All 3 have had to reinstall Windows after it broke their systems. Not the best thing that M$ have come up with. Richard_T Posted December 27, 2017 Author Posted December 27, 2017 And now a new problem, all was working well remotely until just now I'm away from home, trying to access my PC, Its booted up to a black screen ( can see it on an IP webcam) and there its stuck I have an IP address i can use with wake on lan as well as the PC ( the one thats stuck) mac address and nothing else i can send a ping command to the ip address (ping ADDRESS) and it appears to work. Nether Teamviewer or Chrome remote desktop see the P.C, and both report it as offline. I have no physical access to this PC for a week Quote
