PEV Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 On logging in this morning this message appeared at bottom of my desktop 'My display touch smart OSL stopped working' I have Googled this but the explanation is both unclear and somewhat worrying! Everything appears to be normal with this desktop PC some will leave alone unless advised otherwise. Can anyone help please? Ray Quote
PEV Posted December 11, 2017 Author Posted December 11, 2017 Sorry it should read 'touch smart' NOT touch screen! Ray Quote
KenB Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Hi Ray I am assuming that you have a HP machine - is this right ? Does the touch screen actually work ? PEV Posted December 11, 2017 Author Posted December 11, 2017 Hi Ken Yes I have an HP ENVY 23 I presume you mean as an alternative to clicking with mouse I just touch with finger etc? In which case yes the touch facility works fine (although I don't use it that much. Ray Quote
KenB Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Hi Ray, 'My display touch smart OSL stopped working This relates to the Touch Screen software. If you can operate the screen by touch without any problem I can't see why you are getting the error message. There must be some problem. You have two choices. 1. Do as you suggest and just ignore the message [ annoying ] 2. Uninstall and re-install the drivers for the Touch Screen. This is not difficult. click here You need to scroll down to "Screen Does Not Respond to Touch" click on the + Look for "Reinstall the Touch Screen Driver in Device Manager" and click on the + Follow the instructions. Ask if insure. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
PEV Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 thanks Ken I'll do the lazy or simpler option (whatever you prefer to describe) LOL If anything does start to happen I know where on the forum and who to contact! Thanks for your help much appreciated. Ray Quote
KenB Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Option 2 is not too difficult - just a case of uninstalling the drivers and re-booting. If you are happy to leave it as it is - no problem :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
