I have a small network around my property with 5 pc linked together connected by a workgroup. 3 run W10 64 bit pro - 1 runs W7 pro 64 bit and one runs W10 home 64 bit. On all but one PC everything works fine and I can "see" all my other pcs from any PC and also a drive connected to my router which is used as a mini server - i.e. it holds links etc for use by all the other PCs and acts as an emergency backup system.

The W10 pc is not however able to see my router drive. (It does see the router but not the associated drives) It sees the other PCs but not the router drive and I cant figure out why this should be as some time ago it worked fine.

There has been a rash of W10 updates and I'm not sure if those have affected anything.

The only other things really different about the affected PC is that it generally connects via wi fi and not the lan but as it sees the other PCs I don't see why that should be the issue - and its in Spanish not English but again in the past that has never affected anything and also one of the other PCs is on a Spanish OS system and its fine!.

Can anyone point me towards how to find out why the router seems not to appear ??

Just done another check - I connected the PC by the Ethernet cable but that made no difference at all - In the meantime now I can't see any other of the PC on the network but it knows at least one of them is there as it saves files to it!!! Please can anyone explain what is happening here.

Hi joddle and Merry Christmas.

Home networks are not really my thing - so any help from me will be limited.

As you are experiencing the same problem with both Wifi and cable try disabling your AV. [ just to check - enable it again afterwards ]

Also check that you have "Obtain IP Address Automatically" checked in TCP / IPv4

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

MiniToolBox

Network Test

Wireless Test

Thanks KenB - disabling the AV does not seem to do anything but I am not sure where to do the second thing you mention - is that on the router or the PC? If the router I would be surprised if it would make a difference as all the other PCs using the same AV and same workgroup connect fine to each other!
