it all started with format, and it kept shutting down, then i found your site, and read that simular problems i was having, was recommended for the batterie to be taken out 30 minutes and put back and then bios load defaults then change 1st boot.

since then up till today i ahve tried to load win 98, win me and win xp, pro and home.

pc kept going as far as copying files to hard ddisk, then nothing just stayed on that page.

then got as far as in putting license number and when going to start windows, it closed down. now i am only getting as far as loading files then this page in blue screen with these numbers.

Gill (hope i have explained well enough) i am not pc litterate xxxxxxxxx :):):):)

This stop error might be RAM related. If you have more than one RAM module try only using one.

Hmmm.... strange that you would already have a registry that needs resetting if windows hasn't been able to completely install.

Hi

So you have reset BIOS to defaults. This error is either wrong BIOS settings or RAM not working properly. How many times have you tried to install windows XP? This might be hardware related. I suspect the RAM(i could be wrong :D )

Look Jagi unfortunately I'm going to have to be to the point here ok.

You seem to be all over the place on this problem with trying to install different operating systems, not getting back to us, after being asked on numerous occasions, about exactly what you are doing.

For example the error message listed in your latest post indicates that you are now have issues when installing either Windows 95 or 98 and it could even apply to Millennium Edition.

By your information it appeared initially that you wanted to install XP.

SUWIN General protection fault

We have another instance of where you are not giving us correct information with regard to your statement; "......then message comes up protection user.exe".

The link below is what you should have stated.

Disk Defragmenter Causes General Protection Fault in User.exe

We really cannot continue to help unless you give us clear concise information about what you are doing.

Wolf, i know i am sorry for being all over the place, i will start over from beginning on pc froma clean install and come back to you, i am going to try and install XP. could you tell me what my primary partiton should be?

sorry to be a pain.Gill xxxxxxxxxxx

Well if you're not worried about saving any files or data on the hard drive then just put the Windows XP CD in and boot up with it. Then delete all partitions and let Windows create a single partition to use the whole drive.

You have an 80GB hard drive and rather than confuse you at this present time with constructing partitions just leave it and install XP to that ok.

We can discuss making partitions later.
