Hi Guys: Due to badly corrupted registry etc. I was forced to carry out a clean factory reinstall. The actual recovery went well except that I am now unable to access my WiFi connection which I do via Ethernet.

The hub is virginmedias latest and full WiFi .I have the WiFi network number plus password, my PC is not WiFi so I connect by Ethernet.

I have gone through network and info selecting connect to a network, but no WiFi signals are being shown.

With Virginmedia assist we did a full reset without a result, so they dropped out!!!

My device manager is indicating both Ethernet controllers require drivers?

I have attempted updates and PC search without success.

To contact you I am using my daughters win10 laptop, whereas my system is Win 7?

I have been onto Acer site and drivers are available, but daughters laptop does not have CD/DVD drive so I attempted a memory stick which worked but my PC doesn't appear to recognise the driver?

What can I do to reconnect my PC to the internet

:pDont try to weather the storm, learn to dance in the rain instead!

This obviously needs fixing - and is probably the reason why you cannot access the net.

Have you installed the driver from the memory stick - or will it not install ?

In Device Manager - right click on the Etherenet Controller then click on Update Driver.

There will be two options.

Click on the one that indicates "Browse My Computer" or something like that.

Make sure that the memory stick is in the USB port.

If this fails - try copying the drivers from the memory stick to a folder on the desktop and try the Update Driver option again.

What is the exact make and model number of your Win7 machine ?

It seems that you are receiving help from Rustys on another help site.

Why post the same thing on 2 sites ?

You are probably going to get similar suggestions and sometimes even conflicting opinions which means that one, or both Administrators, are wasting their time.
