Hi i have burned some photos onto a dvd-R disc using Ashampoo, then I tried to view them on my dad's DVD player. It starts off as loading, then comes up with the screens as shown below. Wen we try to view the photo's a message come up saying data error. This is frustrating because the photo's show, but won't play. I never had this problem while using Google Picassa. can someone explain clearly what i could be doing wrong please?

Many thanks.

Hi,

Is this the same problem you were having a while back ? - see link below

Could it be that your dad's DVD Player is only good for video formats ?

What is the model number of the DVD player ?

Does it have a USB port ?

I assume that you have no problem viewing the pictures if you load them from the disk on to your computer ?

Do you ?

Does it have a USB port ?

You haven't answered this question.

The model number should be on the device somewhere [ see below]

This is a Sony DVP-SR170

The USB port -see image below - [ could be just one if you have one at all ] usually on the back or side of the machine

They are what you would plug a memory stick into.

Are your pictures saved as JPG format ?

Right click on a picture then click Properties

Look for "Type of File" - this will tell you what format the images are saved in.

Please let me know.

Some video players will only play JPG images.

Did you manage to find he Model Number of the DVD Player ?

This would really help.

If you have any documentation that came with it you may find the Model Number on the front cover.

It could also be on the machine itself - see my previous posts - there is an image showing the location of the Model Number.

Have you used this DVD player before to view photographs?

Please answer all questions.

Yes

Did you manage to find he Model Number of the DVD Player ?

Looking on Sunday, parents live out on a farm.

Have you used this DVD player before to view photographs?

On my dad's old machine wen I viewed Google Picassa, they play on his new machine (one's done with Picassa) not the one's done with Ashampoo.

If your dad's new machine has played JPGs [ photos ] before then it must be a setting with Ashampoo.

There are not too many options but there is one choice that you have to make when burning your photos ....

Did you select "With a CD/DVD player" ?

This is the option you need to select.

I've done that through windows .....

I don't understand this statement.

Have you tried a different piece of software in addition to Ashampoo or are you simply confirming that you selected the CD/DVD option ?

I am suspecting that it could be the DVD player then.

Two different pieces of software are unlikely to produce the same result.

Can you try to find the Model Number of the DVD Player please ?

Can you also try to find out if the DVD Player has a USB socket.

The reason I ask about a USB socket is - if it does have one you could try transferring photos to a memory stick and use that instead of a DVD disk.

Hi

Thanks for the model number

The manual [ not a great deal of detail] is here - click here

It does tell me that your dad's machine supports JPG [ photo ] format.

It also says that the machine has a USB socket.

You will have to select the USB from the "Display" on the remote.

On a blank memory stick - transfer some photos to the stick and plug into the DVD Player.

Do the photos play properly from here ?

There is a "Picture Navigation" button on the remote - this may be worth trying.

I found another manual that may be of some help - click here

Tried both discs this afternoon even after finalizing (on Ashampoo) on my dads DVD player, still says photo error. i tried another disc which I had ran through google Picasso through Ashampoo and that worked fine. I can't use Piccassa anymore as that doesn't exist, is there a similar programme to picassa I could use before running through Ashampoo. This is really frustrating me as i want to be able to play my photo's on a TV, just just my PC.

My dads DVD player is a DVP-SRZ60H

I suggested putting them on a Memory stick - did you try this ? [ assuming .JPG or .PNG or similar extension ]

[ see my post #16 ]

You would need to select USB on the remote.

Can you clarify please?

USB port is front right.

You would need to select "USB" from the "Display" button on the remote.
