JimWoodward Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 First post! Firstly, thanks for looking! In a nutshell, when gaming, menus etc seem to run fine, but the moment the game itself starts, the screen cuts to black, sound still running in the background and all inputs seem to we working normally. It had been suggested it was an overheating issue, but this is a relatively new occurrence and I have never had similar problems before. I configured my GPU (MSI GTX 970) fans to run 100% speed all the time, but that did nothing either. Also, every now and then, the PC fails to boot, but when I look inside, the CPU fan isn't spinning. A few on/offs later it seems to spring back to life. Are these 2 issues linked? Any and all help would be appreciated! Thanks! Quote
KenB Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 Hi I assume that you have checked inside the case for dust? This can cause similar problems to what you describe. This could also be a Power Supply issue. Do you have a spare to try? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! JimWoodward Posted October 22, 2019 Author Posted October 22, 2019 Thanks for your reply Ken. I called a local PC repair guy in and that was the first thing he did. It wasn't too bad at all anyway. I don't have a spare PSU (currently using a Corsair CX600M), but maybe it is worth a try. I assume that when that the graphics card is placed under heavier load, it draws more power and for some reason isn't getting enough when needed? Quote

That is what I was thinking Jim. Also - if it is intermittent then on startup there may not be enough power to run the motherboard or supply the fans. It is worth trying a different PSU if you can get hold of one. Let me know how things go :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
