Hi folks, just bought a brand new 17inch Dell Inspiron 3000 laptop, (it's a whopper! :)) we are quite happy with it, but we have one or two small problems which we hope can be sorted out on this forum. It comes with a Antivirus thing .. which they are asking us to pay for, so can anybody here recommend a Free Antivirus programme for us?

Also we seem to have no 'copy and paste' … ? we used to click on a box in top right hand corner and a list would come down, including copy and past, our last laptop we had Chrome... not sure what we got now, apart from it's windows 10.

I presume it is running windows 10, if so it has built in security, Dell must get a kickback from the paid AV. You can remove that and turn on windows defender, you can find that in Windows Settings/Windows Update/Windows Security. You can remove the paid AV in Windows Settings/Apps/Apps and Features.

Completely agree with Ned here.

Remove the installed AV that you are being asked to pay for and then activate Windows Defender.

If copy and paste doesn't work after this, try running the Windows updates.

Failing that, a work around is to use the keyboard shortcuts....

.it keeps telling me to download 'Chrome'.
More than likely linked to one of the preinstalled programs.

You can safely ignore it..... or if it becomes a pain, you could always install Chrome but never use it.

Sometimes it's an advantage to have more than one browser installed, especially if you developed a problem with the installed 'Edge' browser.

I take it you are now typing from another system...... your info at the side is now showing Win7 and actually using Chrome.
