craigb Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 hi all, im new to this forum so i just firstly want to say hi... Im currently having problems with my vista operating system, in the respect that, i keep receieving stop errors (blue screen) This only happens when i connect my external soundcard to my pci slots. (Any of them) on the motherboard. Ive had my soundcard for a while as i produce music, but most recently thsi error is persistant, and at this moment in time, the blue screen will appear whenever i connect my soundcard, when i dis connect my sound card, however, it works seamlessly. I actually thought my sound card had a problem so i bought an exact replica, but again to no avail. I hope some one could help me, and i hope i dont have to format my pc! If i need to give any more information to assist in diagnosing my problem just say and ill be happy to answer them. Hope you guys can help. Thanks alot!! Regards Craig Quote
maynardvdm Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Hi Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help. Did it work before? What has changed since it worked? What is the make and model of sound card and does vista support your sound card? Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. craigb Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 hi yeah it worked for a good while it actually happened first on my old pc, bu thrne i upgraded to a betetr pc, and shipped my old card onto this pc, having worked fine for about 8 months it has now just started this particular error msg. When this stop error comes up the computer restarts, so with the sound card connected there is no way of me using the pc, ive tried buying a new card, as i thought the card may have had its day but again the new card seems to be doing the same thing, With the sound card disconnected, the pc doesnt bring any kind of driver up for it, as i thought maybe of uninstalling the whole cards properties to see if that could help. At the moment i dont know what to do! Thanks for replying. Quote

Tony D Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Maybe a recent Windows update is causing the problem. If so, you can use System Restore to bring your computer back to a time when it was working properly. You should also see if your sound drivers are up-to-date. It could be a hardware problem, especially if the problem has been getting worse over time. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help.
