Windows 10 upgrade.

Hi I’m trying to upgrade my Samson laptop from windows 7 to windows 10, the download works fine until I get the windows 10 logo on my screen then the laptop freezes, the only way I can restart it is with a cold start (removing the battery, when it reopens it’s back in windows 7 with an error message saying, The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation. Can anyone help?

I take it that you are using the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft?

Have you run all of the Windows updates on the laptop before running the Media Creation Tool?

That error can point to a number of things but the first option would be to check that all of the drivers are up to date.

Are you installing from a USB stick or from DVD?

How old is the laptop? ..... some older systems are not compatible with Win10. ( it's hardware incompatibility )

I've upgraded about 6 Win7 systems to Win10 ... but there was 2 that just would not update no matter what I tried.
