Traveller Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 (edited) I have recently encountered a problem on a windows 10 laptop, trying to load a particular webpage (My bank log in). Up until several days ago this worked okay and I had no problems. The page now only partly loads. The header and footer load, but the body is missing the lower part of the form. None of the controls on the form respond to inputs. When clicking the padlock, the webpage appears to have all the correct certificates etc. I wish to find out if there is a problem with my laptop, (the page loads okay on an Android mobile, but not in Edge or Chrome), or if the fault lies at the page design level. I think that the page layout has recently been changed. I have made sure my computer is up to date on the latest Windows 10 and the browsers are up to date. I've run malware scans, anti-virus scans, pc analysis software (IOLO System Mechanic) and Windows diagnostics. They all show a healthy system. I had a peek at the webpage code inspect facility. It lists two errors. 1: Uncaught syntax error, unexpected identifier, app.master.head.js:7. 2: uncaught syntax error, modernizr is not defined, app.master.body js?. It may be that I have a missing or corrupt Javascript file, but not being too familiar with HTML or Java, am not sure what to do! Edited February 22, 2021 by Traveller Quote
KenB Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 Hi and welcome to ExTS The only thing that I can think of that may cause this behaviour is if you have JavaScript turned off. I am sure that this would have affected other websites though - but worth checking. Also - try disabling your AV - obviously turn it back on afterwards. Traveller Posted February 23, 2021 Author Posted February 23, 2021 Hi KenB. Thank you for your input. I have checked that Javascript is enabled in both browsers. Oddly, I tried again today, and the page now loads fine in Edge, but still refuses to load correctly in Chrome! Weird or what! I was just about to go through both browser settings again to check for anything that might cause the problem. Alas, I'm of the old school and can remember when commands had to be typed in correctly! I used to do some programming in VB (5 mostly), and have a little experience with Borland C++. HTML and Java came in a bit late for me. I am currently learning on-line to help me understand the problem better. I'll post information if I find the cause. Quote
