Toshiba Satellite P500 Black Screen

I have a Toshiba P500 laptop and the screen keeps going dark although the laptop is still running. Ive tried upgrading the graphics drivers but it seems that this hasnt worked

i would appreciate any suggestions or upgrade links etc i have a Nvidia Geforce graphics card

Hi and welcome to ExTS

 

When you say it goes dark - can you still see what is on the screen or is it completely black?

 

With laptops - in the screen - there is a backlight and an inverter.

Either of these can cause the screen to go black if they fail.

It is rare for the fault to be intermittent unless it is a connection problem to either the inverter or backlight.

When i start up the laptop, its fine it only happens after that and yes i can see the what is on the screen although its too dark to work with it.

If the intermittent issue is what you say it is then how can it be fixed ?

At what point does the screen go dark ?

 

Do you have it plugged in to the charging unit and is the battery charging ?

 

When it is dark - press CTRL + ALT + DEL all together

Is this screen dark ?

it could go dark at any time without a warning

Since I upgraded the drivers I thought it was running fine and it happened today all of a sudden again
