XP Sp2 Machine logging on to wrong DC

I have an XP sp2 machine that takes about 20 minutes to log on. I have a

multi site enviornment. When this pc logs on, it is logging in to our DC in

Canada, instead of the DC here in the main office. This is why I am assuming

the logon takes so long, because its going over a slow 768k WAN link. This

is the only PC with this problem.

When I boot the pc in safe mode with network support, it logs on fine, and

to the correct DC.

How can I make it use the correct DC for logging on?

DNS is correct, and it is getting the correct ip address.

Removing the pc from the domain, and rejoining did not help.

Some time ago, we had the same issue.

The solution was to properly configure the sites and subnets in active

directory sites and services.

Re: XP Sp2 Machine logging on to wrong DC

I am pretty certain that the subnets in sites and services are configured

correctly. The current network setup has been in place for several years now

with little to no changes at all. Besides, if that was the case, wouldn't

there be more than 1 out of 300 PCs having the issue? I do appreciate the

comment, and if you have any more, send them this way. Thanks.

Remote chance: Are your servers 2003, but not at SP1?

Maybe this?

Re: XP Sp2 Machine logging on to wrong DC

some servers are 2000 SP4, and other are 2003 SP1. We are not using DFS.

Fortunatly another problem solved this one. I went to do some more trouble

shooting the other day, and the PC would not boot. Needless to say, that PC

was rebuilt. No problem since then. It was the last solutions I was looking

for, but it gave me no choice. Thanks for all your efforts.
