Guest Zonky Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I have a SBS network with XP clients. One of these clients has suddenly stopped responding to Remote Desktop. That is, i can remote desktop out from this client, but can't remote desktop to it from other clients or the sbs server. Furthermore, while i can access all normal network services from the desktop, i can't access the desktop's C$ share remotely. From that client i can telnet to the localhost port 3389 and it sits there (conenction is opened). Remotely the connection is just timing out. When i disable the Windows firewall, it has no effect. I've also turned on logging on the firewall, and i can't see any dropped connections when it is active. Turning off antivirus makes no difference. There is no firewall as part of this anti-virus app, and the same app is installed LAN-wide. As a brain wave i just tried connectin to IIS on this XP and: http:// ping are both timing out. It is as if as far as the rest of the network is concerned, this machine is unreachable. All incoming connections appear to just timeout. I have considered that it might have been a dns issue, and i can confirm that using ip in place of dns makes no difference. For all intents and purposes, this machine is unable to be reached from anywhere on the local network. Guest Not Me Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Re: XP Client isolated from rest of domain. you didn't somehow setup the network server or router to block it? mac address filter or such? possibly a permissions problem?
