Guest Skip Bisconer Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I have been having some issues with a nasty pop-up issue in IE7 and I thought possibly I could resolve the problem by restoring my system. When I try to do a System Restore it tells me "System Restore Application has encountered a problem and needs to close." I have tried to go from Safe Mode but to no availe. I am on XP Pro SP2. I have recently installed a beta version of McAffee. (Don't know if the latter has anything to do with it.) It's been a couple months since I have had to use Restore. Thanks for looking at my problem. Any suggestions on the popup issue woud also be helpful.

Guest PA Bear Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 Re: Unable to open System Restore What "nasty pop-up issue"? Guest Skip Bisconer Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 Re: Unable to open System Restore Thanks for the info on Hijackthis. This would be my next step. I still have the issue with System Restore. The article recommended by Rick didn't provide a solution for me. Any other suggestions? Guest Rich Barry Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 Re: Unable to open System Restore Skip, I would do as PA Bear suggested. Once you free of any malware you can then tackle System Restore.
