Shinko Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 (edited) Howdy-hoo! I need some help trying to set up wireless internet. I recently bought a Belkin ADSL Modem with Wireless-G Router and can I buggery get it working right. It's hooked up to my laptop at the moment with all the right settings (I assume everything is right since i'm online) but nothing will connect to it. I've tried connecting through my PC but I can't seem to connect. It sees the connection, asks for the 64bitWEP security code, attempts to connect but then fails. I get "limited or no connectivity" in the wireless connecton box next to the connection name. I can't get my Xbox 360 or Wii to connect either. Can anybody help? Maybe walk me though everything step by step? :/ Edited March 23, 2008 by Shinko Quote

Tony D Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Turn off the password on the wireless network and get it working. Once the wireless is working, then set a password. Seth Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Also, pull the power plug on the modem, plug it back in, wait 30 seconds, then reset the Belkin to factory condition by holding in the tiny reset button for about 10 seconds. Give the Belkin one minute to initialize, and then scan for wireless networks. You should see "Belkin" and be able to connect to it. If so, go ahead and set up an encryption key. Shinko Posted March 24, 2008 Author Posted March 24, 2008 Hi Make sure you obtain an IP address automatically on the pc. How do I go about doing that? Also, pull the power plug on the modem, plug it back in, wait 30 seconds, then reset the Belkin to factory condition by holding in the tiny reset button for about 10 seconds. Give the Belkin one minute to initialize, and then scan for wireless networks. You should see "Belkin" and be able to connect to it. If so, go ahead and set up an encryption key. I still can't connect to it properly with my PC. It keeps saying "limited or no connectivity". I can't get my Wii or Xbox360 to connect either. Quote
maynardvdm Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Go to network connections right-click on the one you use select properties. Click on TCP/IP and click properties. An you'll see there if it is set to automatic. Post back for any further assistance. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. Tony D Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 1) Go to START and then to RUN. Type in 'CMD' without the quotes. You should get a black windows with white lettering. There will be a prompt ending with >. Type in 'ipconfig /all' without the quotes and press the ENTER key. In there you should see an IP address of the form 192.168.R.X with R being either 0 or 1 or 2 and X being some number from 2 to 255. Let us know what you see in there. 2) Once it's established that you have an IP address such as 192.168.R.X, then try to PING the router. This is done by going to START and then to RUN. Type in 'CMD' without the quotes. You should get a black windows with white lettering. There will be a prompt ending with >. Type in PING 192.168.R.1 and press the ENTER key. Or course don't use R, use what you found in step 1. Depending on your system, it will be either a 0, or 1, or 2. If the computer is conected properly to the router, you should see some response.
