Shrinking AVI Files for E-mail

Are there any free programs that will do this? I do not care

if the quality is significantly diminished but I do not want the

recipients to require fancy codecs.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Hello,

Convert your video to WMV using Windows Media Encoder 9 Series.

You can download it here (its free)

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/encoder/default.mspx

The FANCY CODEC as you put it is FREE from http://www.divx.com

If you just install the codec then you can play the files in Windows Media

Player

I wouldn't convert to WMV but to MPG

You can also get a file splitter & send in multiple parts

Windows Movie Maker is another choice. Should already be on your computer

with SP2.

Re: Shrinking AVI Files for E-mail

For compatibility with computers that don't have the WMV CODEC, or even to

make VCDs MPG could be a better choice but WMV makes better looking,

smaller(if that is what you want), video files.

MPEG? Surely you've lost sight of the original poster's request?
