Guest Lou Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 I know this is not the right newsgroup to ask this question, but my ISP will no longer provide me access to newsnet newsgroups. I need a low cost ISP that provides access to newsnet newsgroups. Any help will be greatly appreciated. ----- Lou Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most

You don't need a new ISP, just a free Usenet server. http://www.newsservers.net/FreeNewsServers.php?offset=30

Note three things: 1. Hardly any ISPs are available all the over the world. Some are national, some are local to a particular city, etc. So someone else's recommendation may be of no use to you at all. 2. Although newsgroups are available through many ISPs, newsgroups are also available separately. You can subscribe to a newsgroup service that has nothing to do with your ISP. Some excellent one are available on a pay basis, such as supernews (http://www.supernews.com), others, which may carry fewer newsgroups or impose other limitations, are free. A Google search can provide you with many choices. So although changing ISPs may be a choice for you, it's not the only choice and you should investigate the alternatives. 3. These Microsoft newsgroups are all available for free on the Microsoft news server msnews.microsoft.com, which is the *best* place to get them, even your ISP's news server also carries them. And just in case you're not aware of it, Outlook Express, which I see you are using, lets you easily use multiple news servers. -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP Windows - Shell/User Please Reply to the Newsgroup
