HTTP 500 Error Message

I am using Windows XP 2004 Media O/S and Internet Explorer 7

Each time I attempted to verify http://localhost, I get the following error

message:

 

The website cannot display the page

HTTP 500

 

 

 

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Internet Information Services.

Also, I went to I.E Option/Tools/Advanced/and unchecked show Friendly HTTP

erro message

and I am still getting the above error message

 

TTP 500
