Determine the external IP address of your home installation. 2. If it is a dynamic address, register a domain name (e.g. with dyndns) and configure your router to use it. 3. Give your home PC a fixed internal IP address. 4. Create a tunnel in your router so that VPN traffic is directed to your home PC. If the above is outside your field of experience then your best bet is to ask a networking expert to set it up for you.
Guest KCav Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Re: Need help with remote logon The Registered Domain Name for the home is KCAV.US. DHCP assigns IP addresses to workstations and notebooks on a LAN. At my remote location there is a 2Wire gateway device (modem/router) behind which are workstations connected with ethernet cable and notebooks connected wirelessly. Would like to use VPN to securely connect specific workstations and notebooks located at the branch to a server at the home location. In addition to creating a new connection are there any services that need to be disable? -- KC "Ron Badour" wrote: > Use the XP help file: VPN > > -- > Regards > > Ron Badour > MS MVP 1997 - 2007 > > > "KCav" <KCav@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:79BE6F52-3B94-4134-9606-D127A892674C@microsoft.com... > >I need to log-on to server in home office from branch.
