Drive 0 in mirror failed

Hello folks. Hope everyone is well.

We are running win2003 standard SP1 with 2 x 36gb SCSI dynamic mirrored

disks.

Both the system C: and data D: paritions are mirrored over both disks, which

was done using the disk management mmc.

The primary drive, Drive 0 has now failed. (online, errors is the status but

the system wont boot to it)

We are having to boot to the "secondary plex" option from the startup menu.

Can anyone tell me the procedure to use in order to replace the failed

primary drive?

If it was the mirrored disk I would just break the mirror and replace the

drive but I have a feeling it's more complex than that as it's drive 0 thats

failed.

any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

RE: Drive 0 in mirror failed

Graham,

I can't answer your question because I have the exact same problem, and was

getting ready to post about it. I have 2-73Gb SCSI disks with a Raid 1

mirror. My Disk 0 had some kind of hiccup (I called Dell and diagnostics

revealed the drive was OK, but my mirror is screwed up, when I try to boot

from Disk 0, it gets to a certain point and reboots). I boot fine from the

secondary plex mirror drive.

When I look at Disk manager, Disk 0 has the yellow triangle with the

excalamation point and Disk 1 does not.

I think I just need to remove the mirror and reestablish it using the "good"

mirror on Disk 1, but had the same concerns since the problem drive is Disk 0.

If anyone can answer Graham's question, I think it will also answer mine.

Thanks,

Mike
