Userenv, Group Policy problems with Server 64Bit

Hi All

I hope I can find a solution to my problem on these news Groups.

I decided recently to implement Exchange 2007 server into my domain.

I have the following layout:

- Single Active Directory Forest

- FSMO roles are on current 64 Bit Server except Infrastructure Master is

on 2003 32Bit machine.

- DNS is still on 2000 Server and DHCP still on 2000 Server both Domain

Controllers.

Here is my problem, since I installed the 64 Bit Server I have been getting

the following error every 5 minutes in the application log in event viewer:

Userenv Event ID: 1054. Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for

your computer network.

I have checked all the following:

- IP configuration for correct DNS.

- I can access all SYSVOL shares on all other DC's.

- I can ping the 64Bit server from all other DC's and from itself.

- I have run the RSOP admin tool and noticed that the Policies are disabled

on 64bit but enabled on 32bit!

- I have followed the steps in KB article 290647 to check Policy share

permissions.

- I have enabled Bypass traverse checking with correct permissions.

But I am still getting the error Userenv Event ID: 1054. Windows cannot

obtain the domain controller name for your computer network. Every 5 minutes.

I might be totally blond but am I missing something.

Highly appreciated.

RE: Userenv, Group Policy problems with Server 64Bit

To whom it may concern.

I have finally found the sollution to my problem.

The Problem was caused by the AMD Opteron 2x Dual Core CPU's you can find

the KB article here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938448/en-us

I would also recommend checking the following article if it still does not

resolve your issues: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290647/en-us especially

if you have a mixed environment like I had mentioned above.

Now it is off to install Exchange 2007, wish me luck!
