Using Windows-XP-SP2 Netscape 7.2

I just noticed on my task bar (near the clock time) there is a box that

looks like 2 monitor screens with a RED X on it, when I put my mouse on

it, says "Local Area Connection A Network Cable is Unplugged, but when I

click on it comes up under Network Connections --dial up--Bellsouth with

a check mark in it. the other one says --Lan or High Speed

Internet-under that is Local Area Connection, with the RED X

I do have Dial-up, so what is the other one how do I get rid of it so it

doesn't come up again

Thanks for any help

Since you're on Dialup, you don't need the LAN connection. Right-click

it, click Properties, turn off "Show icon in notification area when

connected".

Re: What is this?

Your PC comes with a Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC). Each

networking device ( Modem, NIC, Wireless ) creates an associated

Local Area Connection. To inhibit the System Tray from appearing for

the LAC, you just Right Click the entry in Network Connections and

Left Click the option "Disable"
