Games in Future

im going to build a pc and i was wandering if anyone knows what your computer will need (requirements i.e processor,graphics card) to have to play games like :

call of duty 5

crysis 2 (if it comes out)

and other fps game

It'll be hard to say at this point, as you can never accurately predict what games will need without much information regarding them, but even running Crysis NOW is an expensive endeavour, I can't imagine what you'd need for Crysis 2.

Yeah, unfortunately even if you were to buy the very top kit for every part of your computer there's no way to guarantee that it will be able to run the next generation of games with everything turned up to 11. Certainly I'd expect one of these - Area-51 ALX Desktop Overview - to be able to at least run them, though. Quad core is probably a good starting point for your new system.

You'll need to build a hi-spec PC so all gaming will work good :)

 

Where your local is? Maplin selling 1GB Graphic card for £69.99. Good value, we brought this item and dad say he has no problem playing Rail Simulator using this graphic card.

Like it has been said, there is no way to tell the requirements as of yet, but, a good milestone would be able to play Crysis.

 

You would need a decent processor, dual core preferably, or if you have the money, a quad core processor.

 

To be able to play it at medium - high settings, you would want a high end directX9 or low directX10 graphics card. IF you want the ultimate gaming experience, you would need 1 or more high end 8 - 9 series graphics card. This would cost you a fortune though.

 

And yes, there will be a Crysis 2, it is a part of a trilogy. Right now, Crytek are trying to license a few names for it.

 

Unfortunately, due to different developers, CoD5 is going back to World War II.

Assuming they strive for more improvement, I think Quad-Core would be a necessity for Crysis 2 when/if it comes out. (I still say if because you never know when a sequel may get canned.)

 

Another thing to keep in mind, since you'd likely be looking into a DX10 card, is that you'd need a decent version of Vista on the machine. I've never used Vista, but assuming it's anything like their 2000/XP releases, try and avoid their most basic editions, as those tended to be glitcher than normal.

As it stands at the moment the ONLY card that can play Crysis at 1680x1050 is the Geforce 9800X2 and that is the fastest card at the moment.

As for the CPU we are now on a 45Nm chip and that has changed within a year as they were 65Nm.

You need Vista to run it in DX10 - again DX10.1 is here, no one could tell you accurately what you would need to play these games.

A good bet would be around the same power as the above card - nearer the time maybe invest in another

as for the CPU - Quad core is overkill - have you ever seen a game that uses the four cores - the only one at the moment is Supreme Commander - if you look at the back of modern game boxes the requirements are on the GPU and not the CPU - you are better off getting the highest core 2 duo you can afford.

and some decent DDR2 as again DDR3 only benefits quad cores and only marginally for the cost.
