okisok01 Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Our non-profit organization supplies computers to local head start facilities. We sometimes get donated computers to be used by the children. I currently have an HP Pavilion XT963 that is running Windows XP Home. The system is pretty hosed up and it has Norton Security Center on it. I have tried cleaning it up, but it doesn't want to cooperate. I can not get the Norton off of it due to a password that the previous owner (unknown) put on there. That's the background. Here is the problem. I hooked a different IDE HDD to it and tried reloading the operating system. It booted to the CD Rom and went through setup. After that I expected it to reboot and bring the system up for the first time. Instead it just wants to go back through setup again. It will just continue going back through setup. I have fomatted the disk, deleted the partition and repartitioned. I have even tried it with another HDD. I have done this same thing many times with other machines. There seems to be something in the BIOS that is keeping me from doing this. I'm at a loss. If someone can help, I would very much appreciate it. James Quote
D19824 Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 after you install the initial setup files make sure in bios that the boot device priority the hdd is set before the cd rom or dvd rom. it sounds like this could be the problem Quote
