Guest Patrick Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 My computer has just recently downloaded some updates in order to run some ISP software on my computer and since the update was installed my keyboard and mouse will not work. I have tried to reinstall the drivers and do a system restore but it makes no difference. Can anyone offer me any advice on how to resolve this problem? Thanks.

I'm a little surprised at how you were able to run system restore, etc. without either mouse or keyboard. Was this from Safe Mode? If so then can I ASSume that both keyboard and mouse work when in Safe Mode? -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Windows mike.maltby@gmail.com Patrick <Patrick@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > My computer has just recently downloaded some updates in order to run > some ISP software on my computer and since the update was installed > my keyboard and mouse will not work. > > I have tried to reinstall the drivers and do a system restore but it > makes no difference. > > Can anyone offer me any advice on how to resolve this problem? > > Thanks.
Guest Patrick Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Re: Keyboard and mouse not working. Mike The computer had not been updated for a while and when i loaded the disc to install the ISP software it said i needed to update windows me and it proceeded to get the updates. After the updates had downloaded and i tried to use the keyboard to type in some details for the ISP software, the keyboard not work at all. The keyboard is connected by USB and the mouse is PS/1. Initially the mouse was OK, allowing me to run system restore. I did run system restore to try and roll back to previous settings but it did not restore the use of the keyboard so I tried reinstalling the drivers but no joy either. Then the mouse stopped working. I tried unplugging them and reconnecting them but no joy. As i had no input device I switched off the computer and restarted it to see if that would make any difference, still no joy. I must admit i did not try to run it in safe mode as yet. I will give safe mode a go and see what happens. Many thanks for your help. Patrick. "Mike M" wrote: > What updates? > > Keyboard and Mouse - How connected? Guest Patrick Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Re: Keyboard and mouse not working. Mike Further to my last post. I restored my computer to factory settings and it took the updates without a problem and everything is now working fine. Many thanks for your help Patrick "Mike M" wrote: > What updates? > > Keyboard and Mouse - How connected?
