Computer Starting to Slowdown!!!?

My computer is approximately 2 months old and now has just recently

started to slow down after 3-4 hrs of use after each bootup. I have

scanned for viruses, malware/spyware, uninstalled unecessary programs,

defragmentized the hard drive, run diskcheck and cleared cookies and

temporary files from Internet Explorer. After a few hrs the system

slows down substantially thus making it difficult to browse the net

and switch inbetween programs.

I am currently running: Windows XP SP2 (with all updates), Pentium

Core Duo 2.4ghz, 2 Gigs of Ram, Norton Internet Security.

Any thoughts?

Have you tried shutting the computer down for a minute or so when it is

running slowly so that your resources have a chance to recover? I have

my resource meter in the systray and it tells me if it is overwhelmed

due to me having too many programmes running at the same time.

Your Norton products are likely sources of this drain on Resources. I

suggest uninstalling Norton, using the Norton Removal Tool from Symantec and

running it, then installing some other AV, like Avast! (free for home use.)

For Norton Removal Tool, see here http://tinyurl.com/3bcz68

Perhaps there is an overheating problem. When a Pentium cpu gets too hot, it

slows way down to protect itself.
