Guest Maciej07 Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 I have problem with printing from x86 client on share printer on W2k3 x64 server. Printer driver for x64 and x86 systems was install on server OK. But when user from W2k workstation tray starts properties of this printer following message appear: 'Printer properties cannot be displayed.' When I tray run properties from other x64 server all works OK. Where is problem?
Guest Bruce Sanderson Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Re: share printer on W2k3 x64 server What make and model of printer? Printer drivers are very idiosyncratic, so what works for one may not necessarily work for another. On the 64 bit print server, what exactly is the name of the printer driver and what version is it? I assume the x86 driver was "installed" as an "Additional Driver" - what method was used to do this and what is the printer driver version? Sorry, but I'm having difficulty relating to "tray starts properties" - what exactly does this mean? What happens when the printer is added on the W2K client as a network printer via the Add Printer wizard? See if the steps at http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/AddDrivertoOldOS.htm work. If not, the "workaround" at http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/NetPrinterNoPP.htm might be useful. It might be useful to post in microsoft.public.win2000.printing or microsoft.public.windowsxp.print_fax. -- Bruce Sanderson MVP Printing http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders It is perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.
