Guest Andy Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Hi, after I added a second domain controller to my current active directory setup I notice that every time I reboot a machine it takes something like 20-45 minutes for it to get past the "applying computer settings step" I notice if i simply shut down the second domain controller it gets past this step immediately. Does anyone know what in the second domain controller is causing this issue? I have DNS installed on both domain controllers.. -Drew

Is this new server a GC? (might as well...) Event log errors anywhere?
Guest Andy Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Re: added 2nd domain controller, slight issue. Well, the server that I rebooted has a static IP, it doesnt use DHCP and on the 2nd domain controller i dont have DHCP installed, Im not sure if the new domain controller is a global catalog, I believe it is because I was able to run the exchange performance test against it. thanks, -Drew "Lanwench [MVP - Exchange]" <lanwench@heybuddy.donotsendme.unsolicitedmailatyahoo.com> wrote in message news:OUGW0$VxHHA.4916@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > Andy <aweaver@ee.net> wrote: >> Hi, after I added a second domain controller to my current active >> directory setup I notice that every time I reboot a machine it takes >> something like 20-45 minutes for it to get past the "applying computer >> settings step" I notice if i simply shut down the second domain >> controller it gets past this step immediately. >> >> Does anyone know what in the second domain controller is causing this >> issue? >> I have DNS installed on both domain controllers.. >> >> -Drew > > Is your DHCP server giving out both DNS server IPs to your clients? > Is this new server a GC? If you're talking about the first DC .....
