Why do you have 2 drives?

The computer runs slow when I'm internet browsing. It has never been as fast as it should be.

The 2 drives is how the computer came when I purchased it.

Well I don't see anything in the logs out of the ordinary.

A few comments, suggestions.

1. You're running the minimum system requirements for Vista

2. More RAM may help, but probably not a lot

3. Maybe Download ATF-Cleaner from Snapfiles.com and clean up temporary files on your system.

4. Click on START - RUN - and type in CHKDSK /F and click the Y key in the black box to run a disk check and reboot the computer to allow it to run.

5. From the accessories menu run the System Defrag

If that does not help at all then we can have you try running another program called Deckard's System Scanner that will provide us with a lot more information about your system and what is running on it.

If you're on a fast (non-dialup) connection and running Internet Explorer, go to Control Panel and open Internet Options. Go to the Advanced tab and scroll down to near the bottom and enable "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed".

Have you done the disk check and the temp file cleanup with ATF?

1) You have three IE toolbars. Get rid of all or leave the one you use most. Go to add/remove programs for removal.

2) You are using AVG but still have Norton files running. Use this application to fully rid yourself of Norton.

3) Perform an IE reset:

1.Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.2.On the Advanced tab, click Reset.3.In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset. 4.When Internet Explorer 7 finishes restoring the default settings, click Close, and then click OK two times. 5.Close Internet Explorer 7. The changes take effect the next time that you open Internet Explorer 7.

These recommendations are not meant to be a replacement for the excellent advice that has already been given. Rather, it's just some extra fun stuff that will help:).

I'm not sure if I've managed to get rid of all the toolbars, but the rest of your advice has helped a great deal. My computer hasn't run this fast since I bought it.

Thank you very much to all of you who responded. You've managed to put a smile on the face of a grumpy Scotsman.:D
