Hello, I am planning on upgrading my SQL server to Windows 2003. The

current OS is windows 2000. The server is proliant ML 350. Please

advise on what would be the best method of doing this upgrade.

All the help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Its always better (IMO)to do a "leap frog" upgrade - ie. to install a

new server, move everything over, then re-use the old server. its

safer, cleaner and ensures your have a more "known" environment.

IF you have to upgrade on the same hardware, back everything up,

upgrade all apps on the server to required SP's levels to work with

2003, then upgrade the OS.

Thanks, I agree that leap frog is the best option, but in this

particular case, it isn't available. Has anyone done an inplace

upgrade on Windows 2000 to Windows 2003? My main concern SQL. Would it

somehow stop functioning?

You havent specified your version of SQL.... as long as your running a

version of SQL that will run on 2003 SPx - an upgrade will be fine

(from an application point of view)
